Handsome two volume set in exquisite contemporary binding in light brown polished calf (spines faded to a pleasing tan), dual black spine lables, lightly raised spine bands, spine and cover embellishments in gilt and in blind, gilt tooled inner dentelles, marbled edges and endpapers, frontis engraving in each volume. Armorial bookplate of Tremayne - Heligan on each front pastedown, gift notation on preliminary blank of volume I: John Tremayne from his friend C. P. Johudon [sp?] on his leaving Eton, Christmas 1842. Some edgewear and uneven fading to covers, joints rubbed but secure, lower spine label of second volume chipped but legible, sound bindings, clean pages with some foxing to the frontis plates, pages clean and unmarked.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition.
