Philadelphia: Moses Thomas, 1814. First edition, 1814. Very worn. Full calf with gilt ruled spine, black spine label, (xvi, 510). Double ex-library, first sold as a duplicate from the New York State Library, acquired by the Forbes Library in Northampton, MA, and again deacquisitioned. The story of a British actor who lived and travelled in the United States during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, written ostensibly as an apology for his less-than-virtuous life. However, the book has greater modern interest as a personal travel journal, for the author travelled extensively through the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states during that interesting period of American history. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo (8.75" x 5.25" or 22.5 cm x 13 cm). First Edition.
