Southam: Self-published, 1820. Stated second edition of a self-published book about the County of Warwickshire, after a first edition of around 500 copies (according to the Preface). Undated, we would estimate that it was published around 1820 or so, could be earlier but not much later. Hand colored folding frontis map of the county by T. C. Banister and Neele & Son. Half calf over marbled boards, spine decorated in gilt and in blind, frontis map, [iv], 341 pp, [vi] plus engraved plate of Warwick Castle. Pages 81 and 82 duplicated. Externally worn with extremities rubbed, front joint lightly cracked, covers firmly attached. Internally very clean, with very little foxing and no chips or tears to the text pages or engraved plate. Folding map has excess creases and a ragged 1" tear with minimal paper loss which could be repaired. No front free endpaper. Interesting old notation at bottom of page 71, in the section describing Leamington Springs - it sets forth the chemical analysis of a gallon of the Leamington water. . Second Edition. Half-Leather. Good. 16mo (6.5" x 4" or 16.5 cm x 10 cm).
