Martyn was a Christian missionary best known for his work in India and Persia, and for his translation of the New Testament into Urdu (then called Hindoostani) and Persian, and supervised its translation into Arabic. This book contains includes twenty of the better known sermons Martyn delivered during his short life (he died at the age of 31), including one on Christian India. Full calf with red spine label, 386 pages. Original binding with badly chipped spine front cover nearly detached, rear joint weak but holding. Pages quite clean with a bit of age-toning, some light scattered foxing, faint dampstains to the far bottom margins of a few pages. A few gatherings are a bit loosened but still well attached.
