London: Printed for the Camden Society, 1850. First edition of an important genealogical reference containing wills and registers of the Commissary and the Archdeacon at Bury St. Edmunds. The wills range from the year 1354 to 1652, and include those of many prominent English families. Green cloth with spine lettered and decorated in gilt, covers in blind, 300 pages plus an additional eight pages devoted to the Camden Society. A sound copy with some edgewear and bumping, with some surface cracking of the fabric along the spine and some fraying to the spine ends. Front hinge good, rear hinge carefully repaired, pages very good with a few light pencil notes in the margins in the hand of Alan Simpson, former President of Vassar College and whose name appears in pencil on the front free endpaper. Old sticker from a subscription library on front pastedown, with both pastedowns having some surface loss from what appears to be removal of a taped-on cover. . First Edition. Hard Cover.
