Includes three black and white plates by Crane, smaller decorative head- and tail-pieces by Hood. A fragile and hard-to-find book, with only one thousand copies of this first trade edition. Japan vellum boards printed in red and black,118 pages. Covers rubbed and spoiled, with spine chipped at the ends and surface cracked at the joints, good hinges, pencil inscription (Saide O. Wilson - Somerby Bridge) on front free endpaper, some occasional, widely scattered, finger soil, no chips or tears. Far inner margin of the frontis and title page have some tan discoloration where perhaps an attempt was made to better secure the frontis, which is a bit loosened but not detached, or where a tissue protector may have been attached at one time.
