The gilt is bright, spines not dried out or age-toned, and there are no chips to the spine ends. Pages are very clean with some light foxing to the verso of the endpapers and the preliminary blanks, a tiny old name stamp in each volume, either on the verso of the front free endpaper or the front preliminary blank. There is a light brown stain at the far lower edge of one volume as well, extending only about eighth inch from the bottom at its largest, running about halfway through the book, and one volume has a few pages creased near the upper edge.
