Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, was hard-hit during the Civil War - first by the Army of Northern Virginia during the Antietam campaign and then during the Gettysburg campaign. This book includes extracts from letters written during the Civil War, newspaper accounts, diary extracts and other historical documents. Also includes rosters, with a list of "Shippensburg's Colored Veterans of Civil War" as well. Illustrated in black and white. Blue cloth lettered in gilt, 320 pages, plain kraft paper dustjacket. Signed by William H. Burkhart, Samuel L. Daihl and George Kaluger on the title page. Very little wear, some dustiness and light soil to the covers, mainly at the edges exposed beyond the dustjacket. Good hinges, sound text block, very clean pages free from names or other markings. The dustjacket has a large chip on the front cover and other edgwear, and has pretty much outlived its usefulness - but it's there. A very clean and sound copy. Price: 35.00 USD
