New York Tiebout and O'Brien for John Reid 1796 First American Edition Hard Cover Good
Complete four-volume set of this impressive history and geography of most of the Western Hemisphere, much of which was completed while Winterbotham was confined at Newgate Prison for sedition. First American edition after an earlier issue in 33 weekly installments. Also includes history of the discovery of America, the Revolution, general information for European settlers, birds, mammals and reptiles of the Americas, treaties, political alliances, and much more. In addition to the 25 plates, there are numerous statistical tables describing various aspects of the locations described. Original full calf with black spine labels, volume numbers and the initials T.W. in gilt on each spine. Vol. I: vi, [2], 590p. + 2 plates. Vol. II: [4], 393p. + 2 plates.
