1 [Shakers] Affectionately Inscribed to the Memory of Elder Frederic W. Evans, By His Loving and Devoted Gospel Friends
Pittsfield, Massachusetts Eagle Publishing Co. 1893 First Edition Hard Cover Good 
Biography and tribute to Shaker elder Frederic W. Evans, published shortly after his death on March 6, 1893. Brown cloth with gilt lettering and blind-stamped decoration on the front cover, frontis portrait of Evans, 129 pages plus errata slip bound in at rear. Covers, mainly about a fifth of the rear cover, have discoloration from exposure to moisture (the book has no musty odor), good hinges, sound text block, age-toned but clean pages with faint dampstains around the top and outer margins of the first and last few leaves, not affecting text, no names or other markings.

2 R. M. Wagan & Co. [Shakers] [Shaker Furniture] An Illustrated Catalogue and Price-List of the Shakers' Chairs Manufactured By the Society of Shakers
Mount Lebanon, NY R. M. Wagan & Co. 1876 First Edition Soft Cover Very Good 
Very scarce original booklet, ca. 1876, advertising Shaker made chairs. This is not one of the museum souvenir printings from the 1970s or later. Tan softcover, about 5.5 inches tall and 3.25 inches wide, stitched binding, sixteen pages. Names of Wm. Anderson and Ann Eliza Charles handwritten at top of Introduction page with Mount Lebanon, N.Y. written below, all in old purplish blue ink. Anderson took over from Wagan in selling Shaker chairs, and Ann Eliza Charles was an Eldress at Mt. Lebanon. The catalogue includes engravings of prices of various sizes of slat back chairs with and without arms, web back chairs with and without arms, upholstered chairs with and without arms, all of the foregoing with rockers; cushions; foot benches; oval wooden boxes; floor rugs (not illustrated); with additional prices for frames only, etc. Not dated, but mentions a Centennial Exhibition award. Very light edgewear with about a half inch separation of the covers at the bottom, light smudge to one page, no chips or tears.

East Canterbury, New Hampshire Published By the Shakers 1901 Hard Cover Fair 
Undated [1901]. Biography of this noted Shaker leader. Navy cloth, 264 pages. Some shelfwear and rubbing to the extremities, fabric covering rear joint separated, good hinges, sound text block, clean pages. Unfortunately, the book was exposed to moisture and stored poorly, with a lean and crookedness to the binding, rippling to the pages, puckering to the cloth on the rear covers, but no staining or musty odor.

Concord, New Hampshire Printed for the Author 1847 First Edition Hard Cover Good 
Anti-Shaker discourse by a former member of the strict religious sect, including 'the life and sufferings of the author'. Full calf with gilt-lettered black spine label, 268 pages. Covers rubbed and scuffed, joints/hinges good, first gathering of pages loosened but not detached, numerous names in pencil on endpapers and blanks, mainly a by Simon Horton of Enfield, New Hampshire, old closed tear with tape residue on front free endpaper, which is also partially detached from the bottom, pages foxed but otherwise clean.
