First edition. Worn copy of this eclectic collection of essays concerning the history and traditions of Connecticut, a combination of fact and folklore. Includes stories about Fairfield, Saybrook and Guilford, Killingworth (the birds), New London, Groton, Myscic, Fisher's Island (now New York), Windham (the frog story), Lebanon, Mount Tom, East Granby (Newgate Prison), Litchfield, Greenfield Hill, with items on mining in Connecticut, the Pequot Indians, much more. Dark green cloth lettered in gilt, 244 pages plus publisher's ads. Covers rubbed with chipping and fraying to the spine ends, hinges internally cracked but covers secure, sound text block, very light transparent dampstains to the first quarter of the book or so, all clearly readable.
