In English, translated from the original German. This book continues where the book "The Old Vienna School of Painting", published in 1961, left off. It contains 124 tipped on plates, nearly all in color, by various Austrian artists from Biedermeier to the mid twentieth century, with an emphasis on traditional paintings. Patterned moire silk cloth in red and black, 45 pages of text followed by 124 plates with explanatory text opposite, a total of approximately 300 pages, tan slipcase with red spine label. The book has just a scattering of tiny light colored spots nearest the upper and lower edges of the covers, good hinges, firm text block, very clean pages free from names or other markings. There is some light dimpling to the pastedown endpapers, most likely from the original glue. The slipcase has some very light edgewear and a tiny chip to the corner of the label, structurally sound. Very clean and handsome copy.
