Undated [1888]. First edition, first issue, with the Glasgow imprint on the title page. Very well-kept copy of this charming book, containing 35 color illustrations by Greenaway. Burnt orange boards with lettering and an image of the Piper in black, off-white and red (same image as on page 37), maroon-purple cloth spine, all edges tinted teal blue, teal blue endpapers, 64 pages. Some edge rubbing, mainly to the corners, spine ends rubbed, some light soil, hinges good (rear hinge just barely beginning to crack at the upper edge), page clean with occasional light finger soil to the margins, a very light scattering of foxing to a few pages. Name of Albert Hanford Moore (possibly the noted botanist) in pencil, in a juvenile writing, on the front free endpaper, no other markings.
