Attractively bound copy from 1867, illustrated with full page engravings. Emerald green blind-patterned cloth over beveled boards, gilt lettering and decoration, all edges gilt, 124 pages. Light rubbing to corners and spine ends, gilt bright and sharp, hinges secure but with surface cracks to the endpapers, text block firm, scattered light foxing, gift notation dated 1868 on preliminary blank, pages otherwise unmarked.

Copyright 1948, but this edition most likely from the early 1960s. The publisher, Heritage Press, is known for its attractive and affordable reprints of special editions previously produced by the Limited Editions Club and other presses. Well-kept copy with elaborate color decorated initials throughout. Gray textured cloth, Sandglass leaflet laid in at front, red slipcase. The book looks and feels new and unread, with no names or other markings. The slipcase has light edgewear and uneven fading, some light shelf soil, structurally sound.

St. Dunstan edition, limited to only thirty copies (18 for America), signed by the publisher and the artist who did the hand illumination. Exceptionally handsome copy of Browning's Sonnets, this copy numbered "special" and made for Mrs. William Dana Orcutt, wife of the University Press and Plimpton Press book designer, who was also first President of the Society of Printers. Arranged and printed by the University Press, and published by George Sproul. Printed on vellum (not vellum paper, but real vellum), each page has exceptionally detailed Art Nouveau style initials, flowers, etc. 4to (27 cm x 21 cm), full emerald and olive green morocco extensively decorated in gilt, raised spine bands, front and rear pastedowns in emerald gilt and ivory morocco with an illuminated flower in a gilt cartouche on each. Forty-seven illuminated pages, each printed on one side only, plus decorative free endpapers. Ivory moire silk box. Condition is near fine; the book looks and feels new, with some light offsetting of gilt design on the heavily decorated pastedowns onto the vellum free endpapers. Front free endpaper and initial blank at front partially separated from binding at front. Otherwise, exceptionally clean and bright. Custom box is sound, with a good interior, but the outside covering is badly frayed and torn; most likely restorable.
