Beautifully bound, lightly worn copy of this nineteenth century guide to raising children. Full brown morocco over sculpted boards with raised panels and elaborate gilt decoration, all edges gilt, frontis engraving, 300 pages. Some chipping at the spine head, gilt bright, text block sound without loosened pages. Front hinge good at the endpaper but showing some of the binder's cords at the title page. Very clean pages free from chips, tears, names, markings or foxing other than some light foxing to the title page and to the tissue protector at the frontis.

Front hinge good at the endpaper but showing some of the binder's cord at the title page, rear hinge similar. Very clean pages free from chips, tears, names, markings or foxing other than some light foxing to the title page and to the tissue protector at the frontis. Very attractive copy.

Worn but attractive copy of this collection of short fiction, essays and verse, illustrated with tissue-protected engravings and a color presentation plate. Bright red calf lettered and extensively decorated in gilt, 320 pages. Covers heavily rubbed, mainly at the edges, with chipping to the spine ends and a few small holes along the joints, good hinges, sound text block but with plates detached (and present), occasional foxing, name and 1850 date in pencil on front free endpaper, no other markings.
