Boston Houghton Mifflin Company 1914 First Edition Hard Cover Near Fine Very Good
Exceptionally well-kept copy of the first edition of this scarce title. Tale of three mischievous but generally good boys - Plupy, Beany, and Pewt - and the misadventures they get themselves into while on forbidden fishing excursions, etc. The dustjacket has the same title with a different subtitle: (But Not Such Very Good Boys). Illustrated with sixteen delightful black and white plates. Green cloth printed in black, 280 pages plus publisher's ads, illustrated dustjacket. The book has some very light rubbing to the corners and spine ends, good hinges, firm text block, very clean pages with a name on the front free endpaper, no other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and has some overall light soil and a few chips, the largest to the rear portion of the spine near the top, about two to three percent paper loss overall. A very clean and sound copy.

Undated, circa 1907. The author was an early twentieth century legal advocate, and later, judge, who took interest in encouraging disruptive young boys to succeed in better endeavors. The diary is printed as found, without spelling corrections, thoroughly entertaining reading for those who appreciate grammar school antics of a bygone era. Green cloth with black lettering, 200 pages. The book is in fair condition with considerable edgewear including rubbed corners and spine ends, taped front pastedown (but no loose pages), stamped ownership address appearing four times on endpapers, otherwise clean pages with no names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is heavily chipped with about ten to fifteen percent paper loss.
