First edition [1850]. Literature, poetry and short essays for women, illustrated with engravings, frontis engraved portrait of Jenny Lind printed on pink paper. Lgith brown cloth lettered and decorated in gilt and blind, 7.25 inches tall, 144 pages. Covers worn with some wrinkling to the lower edge from poor storage (perhaps due to uneven weight on top), some browning and spotting to the covers, front cover gilt clearly legible, good hinges, sound text block, age-toned and foxed endpapers, occasional light foxing throughout the text, gift notation on front free endpaper, no other markings.

First edition in rough condition with covers detached. Personal bookplate and name of Eden B. Foster [Eden Burroughs Foster, D.D.] on the front endpapers. Dark brown cloth, 320 pages. Spine covering missing, text block sound, very minor dampstain to lower margin of the first few pages, occasional light foxing, pages otherwise clean and unmarked.
