First American edition, first printing. Heavily worn copy in dark green cloth printed in gilt, top edge tinted a now-faded dark green, dark pink illustrated endpapers, no dustjacket. Covers heavily rubbed but legible, numerous scraches, frays, rubthrough and general wear, hinges good, text block sound, numerous little fingerprints and a pencil note on the endpapers, pages a little age-yellowed and occasionally grubby with little fingerprints to many of the margins.
