Bright blue polished calf leather, by Allman & Son, with school seal in gilt on front cover, red spine label, five raised spine bands with gilt decorated compartments, gilt tooled inner dentelles, marbled edges and endpapers, 323 pages. Some fairly light external rubbing, tiny chip to rear cover (less than a quarter inch in diameter), good joints/hinges, sound text block, some light foxing to the first and last few leaves, presentation bookplate on front pastedown, personal library blindstamp on preliminary blank, pages clean and free from other names or markings. A celebration of engineering feats of the nineteenth century - railways; tunnels and subways; canals and waterways; bridges and viaducts; waterworks and water supply; lighthouses and illuminants; docks and harbours; drains and pipe systems; ship-building and ships' armament; steam and steam engines; machine tools; hydraulic engineering; more. We don't know the purpose of this paper, but it was imporatant enough to have been bound in a dark gray cloth binding with maroon cloth spine and gilt lettering, 47 pages. Some light wear and mottling to the maroon cloth on the front, otherwise very good with sound binding, clean pages, no names or other markings.. First Edition. Hard Cover.
